Meet Our Medical Director

D.M. Boren, M.D., Director

Dr. Boren is the director of IFEHC. Dr. Boren graduated from University of Illinois College of Medicine. During his medical education, Dr. Boren completed a subinternship at Yale School of Medicine and rotated at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Boren trained at the University of Utah and subsequently received Board certification by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) in Occupational & Environmental Medicine (OEM). He has an up to date certification by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)-National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) for administering Department of Transportation (DOT)-Commercial Driver's License (CDL) medical card examinations for operators of commercial motor vehicles (i.e., truck and bus drivers). Dr. Boren also has certifications from American Association of Medical Review Officers (AAMRO), Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC), American Heart Association (AHA) in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS), and American College of Surgeons (ACOS) in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). Dr. Boren received additional training at the National Institute of Health (NIOSH), a division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Boren has sat for five different national Board exams, including for his specialty and subspecialty. He prides himself in passing every one of those exams on his first attempt.


Other highlights: Dr. Boren is a Fulbright Fellow, a member of Phi Beta Kappa (as a junior), a National Merit Semifinalist, and a former member of MENSA. Dr. Boren has five (5) college degrees including his medical doctorate (M.D.). In 2004, Dr. Boren passed the Icelandic government's official language examination in Icelandic. Prior to opening the doors of IFEHC, Dr. Boren completed a one year sabbatical. The highlights of the sabbatical include attending conferences in his subspecialty, attending the Iowa and Nevada Caucuses as a spectator, and formally studying music and performing with a local music group.


Dr. Boren strives to deliver same day service to individuals in the nearby vicinity: Idaho Falls, Roberts, Ucon, Ammon, Rexburg, Rigby, Shelley, Firth, Chubbuck, Blackfoot, Fort Hall, Inkom, Pocatello, McCammon, Downey, Preston, Malad, Portage, Tremonton, or Logan. However, Dr. Boren aims to serve the entire non-Coastal West: Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada.
