So book an appointment right away, by calling (208) 932-4-932. Visits are by appointment only, 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm.  Make a phone call requesting an appointment. If we feel we have the ability to help you, we will book an appointment. The Medical Director himself provides the healthcare.

Individuals from Noncoastal Western states and Western Gulf Coast states are eligible for services. Of note; Dr. Boren is currently licensed in twelve (12) of those states. Telemedicine can be provided in those states. Eligible individuals who do not reside in those twelve (12) states must prove at the time of the appointment that they are in a jurisdiction in which Dr. Boren currently holds a license.

For details on how this clinic complies with the applicable statute (39 Idaho State Code 77: Volunteer Health Care Provider Immunity), please see the Registration webpage under the About Menu, section Foundational Documents. All eligible recipients of the General Medicine Clinic's pro bono services must acknowledge being aware of this document. They are encouraged to read it.

IFEHC's FMCSA-NRCME DOT-CDL medical card exam clinic requires no "means tests" for its free clinic.

As of August of 2024, no. There are no formal means tests.

As of August of 2024, no. There are no formal means tests.

To qualify for free and charitable rates, you must fulfill the following criteria.

You must be truthful about why you want the services. Failure to be truthful, even if the actual reason falls within the clinic's scope of operations, may qualify as fraudulently seeking healthcare services. Material misrepresentation undermines the therapeutic alliance. Equally important, it may deprive other needy individuals, who truthfully represent themselves and their needs, of services for which they (legitimately) qualify.

You must be a permanent resident of one of the ten Noncoastal Western states or the two Western Gulf Coast states where Dr. Boren is licensed. The Noncoastal Western states where Dr. Boren is currently (as of 08/09/2024) licensed are Utah, Idaho, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Arizona. The two Western Gulf Coast states where Dr. Boren is licensed are Louisiana and Texas.

You must not be part of Medicare or Medicaid unless you are seeking a service that would not be covered by those programs. You are allowed to have private insurance but are advised to be clear on its rules. IFEHC, PLLC does NOT participate in any insurance program. You may be penalized for using outside provider(s).

Your case must be a good fit. The Medical Director has sole discretion in making this determination.

In our interpretation of applicable statute(s), we may ask patients to cover the costs they assume through third parties such as diagnostic test results and medications. As indicated, prices are indicated so that anyone who is caught or suspected of violating the contract has been given fair warning about the consequences of doing so (i.e., deterrent effect).

We want to make a clarification to the statement that the eligibility process is informal and through an honors system: We reserve the right to any appropriate civil law or criminal law remedies available for good faith suspicion(s) of violation(s). We may, at any point within the statute of limitations of contract law, assess the announced rates if we can demonstrate good faith belief of breach of contract. At any point, we reserve the right to use the information to investigate good faith suspicion(s) of breach of contract.

We remind all applicants and current General Medicine Clinic (pro bono) patients that we published a statement detailing our compliance with 39 Idaho State Code 77: Volunteer Health Care Provider Immunity. Please click the link below to access a copy of IFEHC's compliance statement.

IFEHC is busy running four separate programs (each listed under this tab). It offers its various services at low cost or for free. Appointments fill fast. In addition, the Medical Director provides top-notch care to every patient he treats and wants to minimie interruptions. Furthermore, it is in the patients' best interest to talk with the Medical Director to make sure that IFEHC's facilities are appropriate for those individuals' needs. Moreover; the by appointment only basis puts IFEHC in a position to maximize patient privacy by minimizing interactions with other patients and by allowing IFEHC to account for all individuals who enter its premises. Finally, an important implication during the pandemic of the preceding point is that disease transmission is negligible if patients are not interacting.

What is Triage, and how does it work?

What types of conditions does the General Medicine Clinic treat?

Why is the clinic by appointment only?

Triage is a process of assigning urgency to medical issues. All facilities undergo this process in some form or another. When the Medical Director is reached, he determines that the case is an appropriate one for this clinic. The Medical Director could decide the following:

  1. That the case is appropriate for the clinic.
  2. That the case is best handled by a different provider, such as patient's established primary care provider.
  3. That the case is an urgent matter. During daytime, he will direct to urgent care. During night time, he will possibly direct to the emergency room.

We want to make clear that we do NOT advertise, or in any way represent, ourselves as financially assisting others with obtaining medications. As made abundantly clear, we do not dispense medications.

The following is our promise. IFEHC will work with the patients to determine barriers to accessibility and reduce those barriers. Once appropriate treatments are found, IFEHC will work with patients to find the best prices available. This includes talking with pharmacists if necessary. This can be a multidisciplinary effort that includes involving many entities in the healthcare system.

We are proud that our medical judgments are not influenced by any commercial interest. We do not have pharmaceutical representatives on premises. Nor are we compensated for enrolling patients into any studies.

As of August 10, 2024; the following clarifications are in effect regarding text messages, e-mails, or any other type of unencrypted electronic communications. Patients/examinees and prospective patients/examinees may text any time to Dr. Boren's pager/cell phone at 208-360-3521. They may also e-mail to IFEHC's general e-mail at info@IFEHC.com. All patients and examinees are hereby advised that text communications and e-mails may get overlooked and have inherent risks. These methods of communication, unless encrypted or done via portal, pose security risks. Individuals should not send unencrypted electronic communications unless they understand and accept the risks of doing so. It is recommended that if you use unencrypted electronic communication, you restrict the scope to general questions (i.e., avoiding disclosing sensitive information).

IFEHC, PLLC makes clear it does not consent to any physician-patient relationship until an individual fulfills the following steps. (1) The provider must meet (whether or in person or by telecommunications) the prospective patient. As indicated amply elsewhere, the Medical Director triages before agreeing to take someone as a patient. (2) Triage (including accepting images germane to advice) does not count as establishing a physician-patient relationship. (3) The individual must appear for the initial scheduled appointment. (4) The individual must identify himself/herself accurately, as records are required to be maintained. (5) If records are requested before meeting, they must be provided. Indeed, all pertinent instructions must be followed. These stipulations are applicable as verbal contracts. (6) There must be an actual evaluation, which can include medical management. (7) The provider reserves the right to terminate a physician-patient relationship if a patient appears to appear for scheduled appointments or if the patient does not follow the treatment plan(s). The provider will make every effort to provide 30 calendar days' written notice from the date of receipt, with no longer than 31 business days having elapsed from the date of the first documented good faith attempt at communication. If the patient is stable, there exist grounds for instant termination of the therapeutic relationship. (8) By default, a physician-patient relationship only lasts as long as the chief complaint. If the relationship lasts longer, specification otherwise must be provided in writing.  (9) There is no longitudinal physician-patient relationship if the patient already has an established primary care provider.

IFEHC, PLLC does not guarantee that anyone will be accepted as a patient as part of its General Medicine Clinic. Among certain considerations are the Medical Director's assessment of the patient's compliance with treatment, whether the individual is stable, whether the condition falls within the provider's scope of practice, whether the facility is adequately equipped to address the individual's needs, the individual's (or caretaker's) understanding of his/her condition, and whether or not the individual already has established relationships with healthcare providers. In addition, there are external factors such as the current patient load of the clinic and the (geographic) availability of the provider.
