Idaho Falls Employment Health Clinic, PLLC, or IFEHC; located in Idaho Falls Medical District, is the newest community run free (as opposed to low-cost or affordable) clinic in the region. Our clinic's vision is to increase access to quality healthcare among lower middle-wage earners in the region (i.e., the Noncoastal West). We do so via our free clinics, our opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals, and our advocacy initiatives.
What do we do? We provide for permanent residents of the region who identify as lower middle wage earners FREE (as opposed to affordable or low-cost) healthcare services. We provide most services within our means that do not consitute medical emergencies. See elsewhere in this section for a detailed list of cases seen.
Free Health Clinic - Adult Internal Medicine cases have included hypertension (elevated blood pressure), end organ damage secondary to hypertension, elevated cholesterol, cellulitis (skin infection), headaches (including migraines), conjunctivitis, sinus injections, sore throat (including strep), urinary tract infections, asthma, COPD, hypothyroid, diabetes mellitus, and outpatient orthopedics (including broken limbs).
Free Clinic-Employment Health cases have included DOT/CDL physical exams for medical cards, fitness for duty evaluations, return to work, evaluations for disability, and workplace/employer drug testing.
Importantly, we work hard with other players in the healthcare system to coordinate care. This includes health insurance brokers. It also includes the local Department of Labor, who works hard to overcome barriers for able-body adults to hold gainful employment. It also means doing our best to help our patients/examinees access the other free and affordable resources available. We also partner with other free and affordable clinics to find the best possible fits for people's needs.

IFEHC must be the only free clinic, right? No, we're not the only free clinic. According to freeclinics.com (visited 08/28/2021); there are an estimated 1,893 free and affordable clinics in the Noncoastal West, of which Idaho contributes 48 (excluding IFEHC).
However, we believe we are special. First, we are making a campaign out of promoting all the free clinics. An easy way to improve public health (especially during a pandemic) is to make the public aware of the resources available. Second, we're unaware of any free outpatient clinic open 10-10 x 7 days a week (by appointment only), including holidays that does no means testing whatsoever. We serve even individuals whose incomes place them above the poverty line. Third; we know of no other medical establishment west of the Mississippi, nonprofit or for-profit; where callers speak directly to the Medical Director, who personally schedules appointments.
There are no strings attached. It's pretty simple: we're free, and we're open late. We believe strongly that reducing barriers to healthcare is a critical step towards fighting a pandemic. Thus, we do no means testing whatsoever. We take financially struggling people who fall above the poverty line as well as wealthy people who are dependents on plans and do not want the main policy holder (e.g., parents or spouses) to learn sensitive medical information (e.g., pregnancy or STD). For the adult internal medicine clinic, we do not even require our patients to present government-issued ID's unless there is a legally justified purpose. Note that ID cards must be presented for the services offered by the Employment Health Clinic, as the nature of the work is forensic (i.e., legal) and not patient-care oriented.
However, some disclaimers are in effect. Chief among them: our free clinics do NOT handle medical emergencies, and we are by appointment only. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911. Please do NOT show up unannounced. If you are considering donating, please be aware IFEHC has not attained 501(c)(3) status. However, we repeat our assurances that the money goes to pro bono work. See the discussion of common sense disclaimers that also apply.
IFEHC will take all reasonable measures to keep its programs (especially its free clinics) free to the public. However, a few disclaimers are in effect.
(1) As many times as we can possibly repeat: if you are experiencing an emergency, call 911.
(2) IFEHC's free clinics do not guarantee their services to everyone who calls. As indicated
As indicated, IFEHC's free clinics (including DOT-CDL medical) are by appointment only. IFEHC's Medical Director triages all queries and decides whether to offer an appointment at the free clinics. Any conversation with the Medical Director in the absence of a formal evaluation does not constitute a physician-patient relationship. Even after a formal evaluation at the free clinics, the Medical Director still reserves the right to say a case is not appropriate for this clinic. As pertains to the Employment Health Clinic (e.g., forensic medicolegal expert consultation), IFEHC's Medical Director guarantees he will turn down anyone who he believes is dishonest.
(3) IFEHC values patient welfare above all other considerations. If the Medical Director deems a case urgent, he may allow the patient/examinee to defer signing agreements. In accepting treatment/evaluation, the patient/examinee consents to the applicable policies. In continuing to seek services, the patient/examinee consents to updates to applicable policies. You should ask questions if you do NOT understand policies. To reach the clinic for questions, go to the Contact page (IFEHC.com/Contact).
(4) Free simply means IFEHC's free clinics do not generate any revenue. See free clinics' terms of service for a detailed explanation. In the case of service as expert witnesses; it is reasonable to ask for assistance covering undue expenses such as lodging, fax cartridges, or paper. IFEHC will happily absorb up to $25 in costs per case after which it considers costs unduly burdensome.
(5) IFEHC is not guaranteeing its world-class services indefinitely - only for as long as the Medical Director deems it sustainable to render them free of charge. IFEHC reserves the right to, and will, reevaluate at the end of each financial quarter the sustainability of this initiative as well as the measurable effects on the community.
(6) Effective November 1, 2021; IFEHC's free health clinic-internal medicine and free employment health clinic shall charge 100% refundable deposits. See 7Document #315 for details.
(7) Like all American medical facilities, IFEHC's free clinics guarantee medically competent care. In our opinion, our free clinic delivers world-class care. However, neither IFEHC's free clinics nor any other healthcare facility can guarantee results.
(8) In IFEHC's efforts to be transparent, we have highlighted every known place that we have NOT attained 501(c)(3) status. However, our work is entirely pro bono (i.e., free).
For more details, see our Disclaimers & Disclosures statement in the registration section.

Idaho Falls Employment Health Clinic (IFEHC) cares about its employees, its patients, and the public; and is, accordingly, taking steps to address the novel coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2). A respiratory hazard evaluation (see link below) has determined that the engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) available provide employees a substantially below average risk compared with employees in the same industry (i.e., healthcare) and a below average risk compared with employees in all industries that are currently working. Idaho Falls Employment Health Clinic (IFEHC) minimizes this risk by working on a strict by appointment only basis, which minimizes unnecessary contact. For more information, see the following link.
